Summary

Support inventory valuation and product standard costing process.  Prepare insightful analyses, investigate transactions and discrepancies, seek explanations, provide recommendations, and drive solutions to closure. Partner with Operations team to continuously improve inventory accuracy, costing, and other processes.

You will provide operational support and cost accounting for nLIGHT’s expanding businesses in Vancouver, Washington and Hillsboro, Oregon. You need to be a hands-on professional who is a creative problem-solver with extremely strong analytical and system skills. We are seeking a self-starter with high personal and professional values, strong work ethic and positive attitude.  This position reports to the WW Operations Finance Manager and is located in Vancouver, WA.

Functions

  • Perform month-end inventory close processes, entries, and reconciliations.
  • Cost new products and recommend updates; including absorption rates.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis in support of management reporting, financial reporting, and annual audit.
  • Provide insightful analysis of worldwide inventory, reserve levels and cost of goods sold to help drive better business decisions.
  • Participate in worldwide cost accounting policy development and sharing best practices.
  • Partner with Operations team to ensure their processes and procedures support good inventory control and accurate costing. Support physical inventory audit process.
  • Investigate root-cause of issues, provide recommendations, and help drive solution to closure.
  • Participate in system implementations and testing, process improvements, automation and streamlining efforts.
  • Assist with developing and documenting internal financial controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing with exposure to process costing.
  • Strong working knowledge of cost accounting and analysis; good understanding of US GAAP.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate to operations employees and management.
  • Power user of Microsoft Excel and ERP systems. Microsoft Dynamics AX experience is an advantage. Ability to work with large volumes of data.
  • Must enjoy new challenges, streamlining work, identifying areas for improvement and following through to drive related changes.
