The Applications Engineer 1 is an entry-level engineering role focused on the execution and documentation of laser material processing experiments conducted in nLIGHT’s applications labs. Applications engineers must be capable of efficiently switching between tasks and able to execute multiple projects concurrently. The ideal applicant is a hands-on problem solver who is self-motivated to address new challenges with enthusiasm for technical learning and personal growth. Applications engineers must exhibit a dedicated work ethic, positive attitude, and strong interpersonal skills as project execution will involve regular interactions with visiting nLIGHT customers. This role will be responsible for programming automated industrial equipment and conducting laser applications experiments under the direction and mentorship of senior applications team members. Relevant engineering disciplines include mechanical, material science, industrial, optical, chemical, and applied physics. It is expected engineers in this role will have a drive for personal growth within nLIGHT’s industrial applications team.
