Summary

Primary responsibilities include the repair, testing and calibration of laser systems and components as well as organization and tracking of tools and materials.

The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and work effectively with Technical Support, Customer Service, Manufacturing and Design Engineers to solve problems and quickly and completely.

The position will require moving equipment, lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs., and working on equipment incorporating high power lasers (high power electronics and high power optical devices).

Tasks

  • Diagnose and repair, laser systems,and associated components.
  • Document in detail all repair activities
  • Write basic failure analysis reports
  • Track and analyze repair data to identify improvement opportunities and new or unusual failure modes
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to Technical Support, Customer service and Engineering on product and process improvements
  • Manage returns in and out of the repair center; track wait time, repair time and total turnaround time
  • Demonstrate an unwavering dedication to safety of yourself and all of those around you

Qualifications

  • Previous experience servicing electronics, semiconductor equipment or opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Formal training in digital electronics or electromechanical repair.
  • Able to read basic electrical schematics
  • Experienced and able to use typical circuit analysis tools including oscilloscope, curve tracer, DVM
  • Knowledge of electrical power and safety
  • Basic familiarity with Excel and Word
  • Good eyesight – able to see and safely handle optical fibers
  • Organized and neat

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous repair lab experience especially as lead
  • Training in 5S techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of optics, fibers, laser diodes and laser test equipment is preferred.
  • Previous training in problem solving and quality improvement tools (8D, Pareto, etc.)
