CIM Engineer II

nLIGHT is seeking a CIM Engineer II to join our IT team located at our headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and managing software applications used in the manufacture of high-power lasers as well as solving day-to-day problems to support nLight's engineering and manufacturing teams. This is a growth opportunity within the CIM group and is an ideal fit for a team-oriented, self-directed person with ambition and drive.

Responsibilities

Create and manage software applications that directly interface with and control equipment used in the manufacture of high-power lasers.

  • Establish effective communication with other departments to ensure that requirements are understood and that projects are completed in a timely and effective manner
  • Thoroughly document software design, execution, and end-user instructions
  • Follow software design standards including abstraction, design patterns, and change control
  • Implement standard equipment interface protocols for enterprise equipment control and data acquisition
  • Support nLight’s manufacturing group’s use of existing applications.

This position will report to the CIM group lead and should be able to operate under light supervision and make independent decisions and judgments.

Requirements

  • BS in Software, Science or Engineering
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Team player
  • 2+ years developing software for equipment automation
  • 1+ years programming LabVIEW
  • 1+ years working in a manufacturing environment 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years developing software for equipment automation
  • 5+ years programming LabVIEW
  • 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment 
  • National Instruments TestStand Experience
  • Software Architect
  • Database savvy
