Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Customer Satisfaction
    • Lead resolution of Customer satisfaction issues
    • Support Customer audits and visits
    • Ensure change management process meets Customer requirements
    • Provide Certificates of Conformance as required for Customer shipments
    • Ensure timely turnaround on Customer returns, including any report with failure analysis, root causes, extent of condition/cause, and corrective/preventive actions
  • Quality Management System
    • Manage assigned QMS processes by reporting KPIs and driving improvement actions
    • Ensure prompt and complete responses by task owners
    • Provide QMS training and education. Ensure employees are aware of the importance of their role in the successful planning and execution of the QMS
    • Collaborate with other functional groups to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of QMS processes
  • Continual Improvement
    • Ensure data collection methods are robust so that data integrity is unquestionable
    • Benchmark common processes between nLIGHT sites and ensure standardization of best practices
    • Work with manufacturing process owners to systematically drive improvements: Cpk = 1.33 -->2.0 --> >2.0
    • Assist process owners with Measurement System Analysis and data analysis; improvements through Design of Experiments; and prevention through control plans, process standardization, and poka-yoke techniques
    • Use risk-based thinking when making changes and assessing improvement opportunities
    • Facilitate the effectiveness of problem-solving teams with the use of appropriate tools and techniques
    • Drive containment and improvement activities as soon as key processes deviate from goal
    • Provide training to sustain improvement activities
    • Support all NPI programs through implementation of Quality Plans for each program including new supplier/new part/new process qualification and integration into the existing QMS
    • Identify ‘game changing’ opportunities and manage through A3 projects
    • Collaborate around a unifying goal whenever there is a compelling business reason to do so
  • Supplier Quality
    • Drive timely and complete resolution of significant supplier quality excursions
    • Support Supplier Quality Engineers in their activities to develop the capabilities of preferred suppliers
    • Ensure accurate supplier quality data collection, analysis and reporting. Use these to identify improvement opportunities and drive subsequent Supplier Improvement Plans
    • Audit suppliers as required
  • Environment, Health, and Safety
    • Hold oneself accountable for the health and safety of themselves, their colleagues, suppliers and customers
    • Ensure compliance with environmental requirements of our customers and regulatory bodies

Required Experience: 

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years working in Quality Engineering with a proven track record in solving difficult problems.

Preferred: 

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years working in Quality Engineering in a microelectronics field. Candidates should have experience of leading various Design of Experiment activities to achieve improved performance and implementing appropriate statistical process controls to maintain these improvements. Candidates should have robust audit experience, including supplier auditing

Required Skills: 

Analytical skills, project management, use of statistical software, communication skills, influencing skills

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Math/Statistics

Preferred: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
